Leader Dogs for the Blind
Leader Dogs for the Blind is one of the largest guide dog schools in the world. Its founders teamed up with Lions Clubs International and opened its doors in 1939. They have graduated over 12,000 teams and their students come from all over the world. They are one of only two schools licensed to serve people who are both deaf and blind. Their licensed instructors train the dogs for five to six months. They then team up student and dog and work with that team for another month. This school is located in Rochester Michigan. They have recently built a beautiful new facility for housing the students during their four week stay there. All the rooms are private with outside access to the dog run. The lounges are comfortable and inviting and the delicious food is served in the dining room. Students also have the use of a computer room, grooming room, library, and classrooms.
