Norine's Notes |
Parents and Ancestors
In so many ways I was a very lucky little girl growing up. Instead of the usual two parents, I really had four. I had Mom and Dad (Kit and Bud), and Auntie and Molly (Nora and Molly).
Auntie Molly
My two great aunts and my mother immigrated to the United States from County Kerry in Ireland in about 1926. My mother married my dad in 1935, and I was their only child, born in 1942. My dad’s work necessitated he and mom travel much of the time when I was very young, but Auntie and Molly were always there with me, and I have many wonderful childhood memories of our times together. My parents came from very different backgrounds and cultures and created a unique and loving family for me to grow up. Since both of their lives are so interesting I will present much more about each of them in this section and in My Memoirs section. I will also be presenting pictures and stories dealing with my family in Ireland. I feel privileged to have experienced the lives of my first generation relatives there.
