Norine's Notes |
DaleDale’s work as a chemical engineer is beyond anything that I understand or can explain. He loves it. He is also a licenced Profession Engineer, has set up his own private company, and does some contract work through that.
In 1971 he left his work for active duty in the Navy. His last active duty station (1973 - 1976) was the nuclear submarine USS Seahorse (SSN 669). In 1991 Dale retired from the Naval Reserve with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
After returning to civilian life he had the opportunity to travel internationally and lived abroad on two international projects, one in Iran and one in Yugoslavia. There is nothing he can’t do around the house. Anything that breaks, Dale fixes or replaces it, and he enthusiastically works new projects from scratch to completion. He is inventive, creative, and artistic. He enjoys working with his hands and tools. Welding and ironwork are his favorite pastimes and every home in this family has benefited from his creations.
This is a stand he made to order for a chest Kathy and Thomas wanted to display in their living room.
Dale made these outdoor lights to brighten up the back yard of Shannon and Brian’s house.
These two pictures are a wonderful reminder to me of just how sweet and handsome he has always been. However, most of my memories of the image of Dale are better represented by the following two pictures.
