Norine's Notes |
Creative Writing
Writing has provided me with an excellent opportunity to creatively express thoughts, ideas, and feelings. My first serious attempt at writing was my thesis on pet therapy, which was published in a professional, refereed journal. Over the years I have written several non-fiction articles. After I lost my vision writing became a wonderful outlet as I detailed my experiences in this new world. This took shape and form in a piece that I titled Dear Dog. It was a letter, written over my first few months of blindness, to my future guide dog, about my life and vision loss. Later I began writing some fiction, usually in the form of short stories. I have one full length novel in the workings, and continue to write memoirs and some non-fiction. Belonging to several writing groups has been a great source of motivation and help. I belong to the Tallahassee Writers Association, the Academy at FSU Writers Club, and a very active on-line group. I also enter contests and attend workshops.
